The Warning Signs of Termite Infestation 

• Mud tubes: They are often found along foundation walls or other surfaces and are a telltale sign of termite activity. These pencil-sized tubes provide termites with a safe and moist passageway to their food source.
• Discarded wings: Finding discarded wings near windowsills or entry points typically indicates a recent termite swarm. Termites shed their wings after finding a mate and establishing a new colony.
• Hollow-sounding wood: If tapping on wood surfaces produces a hollow sound, it could be a sign of termites consuming the wood from the inside out. This occurs because termites eat wood until only a thin outer layer remains. 
• Frass: Frass, or termite droppings, resemble small piles of sawdust or coffee grounds. These droppings are often found near the entry points of termites into wood. Identifying frass can help locate active termite colonies.
• Visible damage to wood: Termite damage often appears as blistering or darkening wood, which can crumble easily upon touch. This damage is usually evident in areas like basements or crawl spaces. 
• Tight-fitting doors and windows: When your doors and windows become difficult to open or close, it may be due to termite damage. Termites can cause the wood to warp by eating away at it from the inside. 
• Clicking sounds in the walls: Clicking or rustling sounds within walls are subtle indicators of termites. These noises are often the result of soldier termites banging their heads to signal danger or the sound of termites chewing through wood.
